SkyBell HD only connects to the 2.4 GHz frequency band. The common frequency bands are 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Newer models of wireless routers operate with the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands broadcasting simultaneously. In order for SkyBell HD to connect to these routers, the bands must have distinct SSIDs to allow the two to broadcast on separate networks. SkyBell will operate on the 2.4GHz bands only. In addition to this, there are several other router configurations necessary for use with the SkyBell. During install employing the use of any wireless scanner is recommended to locate a wireless channel less crowded with traffic. Yes, newer Wi-Fi routers will provide better experiences due to the speeds of processors and ram resources onboard to route video traffic.
